Anyone considering travelling abroad should be aware that restrictions are subject to change at short notice, and additional restrictions may be imposed by the country of your destination, including during your visit.

Cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Somalia, including Somaliland. Travel to Somalia and Somaliland is subject to entry restrictions as follows:

  • All passengers travelling to Somalia will require a negative COVID-19 negative test, taken no more than 96 hours before travel
  • All passengers departing from Somalia will require a negative COVID-19 test, taken no more than 72 hours before travel
  • All passengers travelling to Somaliland will require a negative COVID-19 test, taken no more than 96 hours before travel. Passengers, who do not have this evidence on arrival, may be required to spend 14 days in quarantine at their own expense in government-approved facilities
  • Egal International Airport has put in place additional measures to screen passengers arriving into Hargeisa by air, including temperature checks.
  • Passengers displaying symptoms linked to the virus may be transferred to a nearby isolation facility while further tests are carried out

Follow the advice of local authorities, make arrangements for an extended stay and minimize your risk of exposure to COVID-19.
